Student Wins NHS Logo Competition

The Pennine Acute Trust, which runs the Royal Oldham Hospital, launched a competition in November for hospital staff and local residents to come up with a name and logo for the new appeal, which is looking to raise £200,000 for the new £44M women and children’s development unit, due to be completed in December 2012. Year 10 student Tamanna Begum was the competition winner and she was given full VIP treatment at a Latics v Hartlepool FC match as a prize on 2nd February. Tammana was shocked to hear her name being called over the tannoy at half time when she was asked to unveil her logo design with Oldham Athletic FC’s new signing Reuben Reid. Jan Bolton, Charity Manager for the NHS said, “Tamanna’s design captured everything we were looking for in a logo; it is instantly recognisable and has a really fun, vibrant feel to it.

”The highlife didn’t finish there for Tammana as on the 8th February she was invited along with the Principal, Elaine Cooke, Community Art Leader and others to attend the launch of the charity at the Royal Oldham where she met actress Jenny McAlpine who plays Fiz in Coronation Street.
