COURSEWORK OUTLINE AND ASSESSMENT

TRIPLE AWARD (GCSE BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY and PHYSICS)

GCSE  TRIPLE SCIENCE – A* - G

This course is made up of 3 one hour structured written tests and a controlled assessment for each science. All pupils will be given the opportunity to work towards achieving a grade in GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

3 Modular Tests – 75%

Controlled Assessment - 25%

DOUBLE AWARD (GCSE SCIENCE & ADDITIONAL SCIENCE)

GCSE SCIENCE - A* - G

This course involves the study of biology, chemistry and physics, pupils will obtain one GCSE grade in science. It consists of external assessment made up of 3 structured written tests and a controlled assessment based on scientific enquiry and practical work.

External Assessment - 75%

Internal Assessment - 25%

GCSE ADDITIONAL SCIENCE - A* - G

This is independent from the GCSE Science so a separate grade is awarded to pupils who successfully complete this course.  It consists of external assessment made up of 3 structured written tests and a controlled assessment based on scientific enquiry and practical work.

External Assessment - 75%

Internal Assessment - 25%

SINGLE AWARD (GCSE SCIENCE)

GCSE SCIENCE - A* - G

This course involves the study of biology, chemistry and physics, pupils will obtain 1=one GCSE grade in science. It consists of external assessment made up of 3 structured written tests and a controlled assessment based on scientific enquiry and practical work.

External Assessment - 75%

Internal Assessment - 25%

Pupils can progress to do AS/A level Science at College with these science qualifications.
