Pupils at this level develop analysis skills to enhance their own and others performance, they learn about the knowledge and understanding of components of fitness and the benefits of sport and exercise.
In GCSE PE pupils get involved in a variety of sports and learn more specific skills and tactics that are more advanced than the skills learnt in Key Stage 3, some of thee areas focussed on are:
All our Key Stage 4 pupils have the opportunity to work offsite and receive coaching from qualified organisations. Further more pupils are given the opportunity to work within the community with our primary linked schools.
Our future takes us to our new 20 million pound school. Facilities include a 3G football pitch, Cricket pitches, a Dance Studio, a Multigym, Community spaces and much more Students will have the tools to reach their full potential and become more inspired and engaged in sport.
New pathways and ideas to encourage learning are and will continue to be developed at The Oldham Academy North. Leadership is already embedded into the PE curriculum and through furthering our community links we will aid our pupils to lead and organise a range of sporting events in and out of the community. This form of learning creates pupils with a sense of responsibility and determination to help others succeed.
With the up and coming new build we will endeavour to create more opportunities for our pupils to show off their talents through a range of activities and competition and hope to be the hub site for our community to embrace the Olympic and Paralympic values.
We have access to a Sports hall, Gym, Weights room, 2 Outdoor caged tennis court areas, each with 3 courts and a large Astroturf football pitch. In KS4 we also use offsite venues - Chadderton Health and Wellbeing Centre and Oldham Sports Centres. At these centres The Oldham Academy North has access to Trampoling, Dance areas, Zumba and Aerobic coaching, state of the art Gym and fitness facilities and Oldham Sports Centre’s swimming Pool.

There is a wide range of other activities that the pupils can partake in such as circuit and fitness clubs held in the Weights Room, Multi-Activities, skateboarding and Ultimate Frisbee.
Lunch time clubs have been very successful at the academy.Pupils have the opportunity to choose from a range of activities i.e. dance, netball, football etc. The PE department guide and coach pupils and engage in fun games and activities to motive and encourage participation.
