Religious Studies at GCSE

Specification: Edexcel 2RSO1.
Religious Studies is taught in a highly engaging and exciting way, involving pupils in active learning approaches to life’s big questions. This is a pure examination subject without coursework.
The course is split into 2 units; Religion and Life and Religion and Society. Both units are exploring Christian and Muslim beliefs and how they respond to a variety of religious and moral issues.
Religion and Life from the Viewpoint of Christianity and Islam
- Believing in God: How do Muslims and Christians worship?
- Matters of life and death: How do Muslims and Christians deal with the biggest of issues?
- Marriage and the family: What are the Muslim and Christian teachings on the most important of institutions?
- Religion and community cohesion: How can religion help society achieve unity?
Religion and Society from the viewpoint of Christianity and Islam
- Rights and responsibilities: What has Islam and Christianity to say about what we can do and what we must do?
- Crime and punishment: What has Islam and Christianity to say about how society deals with these issues?
- Peace and conflict: What has Islam and Christianity to say about how we resolve conflict?
- Environmental and medical issues: What has Islam and Christianity to say about the latest ethical dilemmas the world faces today?
