TOAN Achieves Record GCSE Results!
24 August 2017:
The Oldham Academy North is delighted to announce its best ever GCSE results with 55% of students achieving 5 A*-C (9-4) including English and Maths.
Not only has this pass rate increased significantly, but The Oldham Academy North has also seen a remarkable 12% rise in the results of students achieving 3 A-A* grades from 2016.
The Academy is incredibly proud of all its students, with some outstanding personal performances from Forida Ahmed, achieving 5 A*s, 5 A grades, and Fateha Khatun and Thahera Khatun, who both achieved 5 A*s and 4 As. Other star performers include Luna Mohsin and Mumtahina Hossain, both of whom only arrived in England from Italy in Year 10 and Year 9 as EAL learners, achieving an astounding 5 A*s and 4 As and 4 A*s and 3 A grades respectively.
Acting Headteacher Chris Davis says, “It is precisely because of the hard work and determination shown by the class of 2017 that so many of our students are today celebrating their exceptional results with their teachers, friends and family. Since becoming Acting Headteacher earlier this year what I have witnessed from staff and students has been nothing short of phenomenal! Today all members of TEAM TOAN are brimming with pride as we celebrate together the best results in the Academy’s history.
I am excited about the future of the academy, owing to a strong recruitment drive prior to the summer break, our growing student numbers, the multi-million pound extension and these results as a benchmark for the future. There has never been a better time to join TEAM TOAN.”
